Participant Feedback

Direct Accounts

Feedback collected from course completions and annual membership renewals between April and May 2025.

SP

Suthida Pongsakul

Sukhumvit, Bangkok — Inventory Course

"I had a general sense of what we owned, but nothing written down. The course gave me a practical way to categorise things that I could actually keep up with. The photography section was particularly useful — I had never thought of photographs as a document type before."

Thong Lo, Bangkok — Annual Membership

"The monthly mailings are genuinely well-selected. Each one covers something I hadn't considered, and the historical framing makes the topic less daunting than I expected. The April group session was the best part — about fifteen of us with quite different household situations having the same conversation."

Lat Phrao, Bangkok — Workshop

"We came as three generations — myself, my wife, and my father-in-law. The first day felt slow at first, but it was necessary: we had to understand how differently each of us thought about what needed recording. Day two brought things together. We left with a written plan, which we have mostly stuck to."

Catherine Marchetti

Phrom Phong, Bangkok — Inventory Course

"Living as an expat in Bangkok, with belongings split between here and France, I had no coherent way to describe what I owned or where documents were held. The course gave me a framework that works across both locations. I would have liked slightly more guidance on digital storage, but the written feedback addressed most of my questions."

Arisa Thiannoi

Bang Na, Bangkok — Annual Membership

"I renewed for a second year, which probably tells you most of what you need to know. The range of topics in the monthly mailings is wider than I expected — it is not just about inventories or wills. The October session was very well run, with a good mix of participants asking different questions."

David & Suporn Srisuk

Silom, Bangkok — Workshop

"We have a British–Thai household and we approached this with some uncertainty about whether it would address our specific situation. It did, mostly by not trying to: the workshop focuses on organisation, not jurisdiction, which is exactly right at this stage. We now have a filing system both of us understand and can add to."

Household Journeys

Three Case Studies

Composite accounts drawn from participant feedback. Names and identifying details have been changed.

Case Study — Household Inventory Course

The Challenge

A single-person household in Silom with substantial inherited jewellery and several property documents held partly in Thailand, partly in the UK. No inventory existed. The participant had attempted to compile a list twice but abandoned it each time.

The Approach

Enrolled in the Household Inventory Course. Worked through the six units over nine weeks, focusing particularly on the personal property categories and the section on cross-jurisdiction document storage. Used the provided workbook for all exercises.

The Outcome

Completed a typed inventory of 43 items with photographic records of the jewellery. Established a two-folder system for property documents, one for each jurisdiction. Described the result as "the first time the whole picture has been in one place."

"I needed someone to tell me how to start, not what I would eventually need to do at the end of the process. That is exactly what the course provided."

Case Study — Multi-Generational Workshop

The Challenge

A Phra Khanong household with three generations: grandmother, adult son and wife, and two grandchildren. The grandmother held the majority of the household's important documents but had never communicated their location to anyone else. The adult son was aware of the gap but uncertain how to raise it.

The Approach

Attended the two-day workshop as a family of three. Day one's mapping exercise revealed that the grandmother's documents were stored in three separate locations, only one of which anyone else knew about. Day two produced a shared access protocol and a plan to consolidate storage over a three-month period.

The Outcome

Consolidation completed in approximately eight weeks. All three adults now hold a written map of document locations. The family followed up with an enquiry about a legal professional for the next stage — a referral outside Estatewise's scope, handled as directed.

"The workshop gave us a way to have a conversation we had been putting off for years without it feeling like a confrontation."

Case Study — Annual Reading Membership

The Challenge

A retiree, originally from Australia, who had completed the inventory course two years earlier and kept the resulting records up to date. Wanted to maintain and deepen familiarity with estate concepts without attending further workshops.

The Approach

Joined the Annual Reading Membership in January 2024. Read all twelve mailings in the first year, attending both in-person sessions. Found the October session on cultural approaches to estate documentation particularly relevant to her mixed Australian–Thai household context.

The Outcome

Renewed for 2025. Updated two sections of her household inventory based on concepts covered in the March and July mailings. Referred the membership to two acquaintances, both of whom subsequently enrolled.

"The reading keeps the subject alive rather than something I dealt with once and filed away. I find myself noticing things I would have missed before."
